TYPING TECHNIQUES YOU MUST KNOW!

ARE YOU DOING IT RIGHT?

Not only your brain but your muscles have a memory too! Yes, your muscle memory helps your fingers find their position on the keyboard. And this requires a lot of practice. Here are some techniques that one can follow diligently to become a good typist.

  1. SIT UP

The first thing to do is to sit straight. Bend your elbows at right angles and keep your head slightly tilted towards the screen. Maintain a 40-65 cm distance between your eyes and the screen. Avoid straining your shoulder, arm and wrist muscles. It is advised not to shift your body weight to the wrists by resting on them.

  2. PLACE YOUR FINGERS ON THE HOME ROW

Place your fingers on the ASDF and JKL keys. These keys make up the home row because you always start from these keys and return to them. The F and J keys have a raised line on them to aide in finding these keys. The Shift key is pressed by the pinky finger. And the space bar can be pressed by any one of the thumb.

  3. MOVE ONLY YOUR FINGERS

Your eyes should remained fixed on the screen. Make sure your fingers return to the HOME ROW. Do not look at the keys while typing.

  4. HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF PATIENCE

It won’t be easy at first but with practice you can increase your typing speed. It is okay to make mistakes in the beginning. Do not rush into perfection. It is to be achieved gradually. Always keep a few words in mind to avoid looking at the text in between.

  5. TAKE BREAKS

Don’t frustrate yourself. You can always take a break if you feel you’ve been sitting with the computer for too long. This gives you time to freshen up and gives your fingers a rst. Also sitting for too long can affect your back.

We understand typing is a tough task. Also that typing can get really boring. We hope the tips mentioned above might act as savior. And may you evolve into a fine typist.
